The honorary board oversees the activities of the editorial board and facilitates their selection process. The Chairman of the Department of Law, North South University is the ex officio chairman of the advisory board. Any willing faculty member can become a member of the advisory board.

Arafat Hosen Khan, Barrister at Law

Arafat Hosen Khan, an accomplished English Barrister and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. With a distinguished legal career spanning over 13 years, Arafat is a prominent figure in the legal and human rights landscape, both nationally and internationally. His extensive expertise, profound commitment to justice, and remarkable contributions to legal scholarship make him a formidable force in the field.

Arafat serves as a Partner at the prestigious Apex Court Chambers, a leading law firm in Bangladesh, where his astute legal acumen and strategic insights have played a pivotal role in shaping groundbreaking legal strategies. Beyond his successful legal practice, Arafat holds the esteemed position of Chairman and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Law at North South University in Dhaka, Bangladesh. As a seasoned educator, he imparts his wealth of knowledge and experience to shape the future generation of legal minds. His passion for research and advocacy is palpable in his roles as a Senior Researcher and legal expert. He has delved deeply into areas crucial to society’s wellbeing, including Labour Law, Constitutional Law, Democracy, and contemporary Human Rights issues. His association with the Institute of Inclusive Policy (IIP), a renowned research-based think-tank in Bangladesh, showcases his commitment to driving positive policy changes that benefit society as a whole. He has contributed significantly to international initiatives and organizations, including the International Labour Organization (ILO), UNDP, GIZ, and more. His role as a Senior Researcher and involvement in evaluating various projects funded by ILO, GIZ, and USAID highlight his versatility and global perspective.

Arafat’s scholarly pursuits have led to him becoming a published author, both nationally and internationally. His authoritative work, “The Constitution of Bangladesh: People, Politics and Judicial Intervention,” published by the prestigious Routledge Publishing, UK, stands as a testament to his deep understanding of legal and political intricacies.

Arafat’s academic journey is marked by excellence. He holds a master’s degree in Global Ethics and Human Values from King’s College London, a remarkable achievement made possible by the prestigious Chevening Scholarship awarded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), UK. Furthermore, he was honored as an O’Brien Fellow in Residence at the McGill Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism, Faculty of Law, McGill University, Montreal, Canada.

Arafat Hosen Khan’s unwavering dedication to justice, human rights, and legal scholarship has left an indelible mark on Bangladesh’s legal landscape and beyond. Through his multifaceted roles as an Advocate, Educator, Researcher, and Author, he continues to drive positive change and shape a more just and equitable society.

Nafiz Ahmed
Lecturer, Department of Law

Nafiz Ahmed is a Bangladeshi academic. He  reads and writes about legal philosophy and public law theory. His work has been published in reputed academic outlets, including, Public Law, Routledge, and Washington University Jurisprudence Review. Nafiz completed his Master of Law (LL.M.) degree from the University of Cambridge and his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from North South University with the highest distinction (summa cum laude).
